In this emergency blog post of November 23rd 2024, is with deep regret that we are asking all backpackers in the area of Vang Vieng to exercise extreme caution.
Unfortunately, multiple deaths of backpackers have been confirmed. Currently as per BBC reporting there are six foreign tourist whom have been taken from planet earth far too soon.
More backpackers and explorers believed to be from the same hostel and location are still fighting for their lives. We wish them a recovery.
This blog post on Vang Vieng Laos Backpackers Safety is a caution post to ask all those in Laos and particularly the region of Vang Vieng. PLEASE BE VIGILANT AND EXERCISE CAUTION, ESPECIALLY AROUND ALCOHOL AND ALCOHOLIC DRINKS.
The hostel currently being investigated is the Nana Backpacker Hostel (highlighted on the map above)
The hostel has already been removed from booking platforms like Hostel World and it is currently closed.
In the coming days more will come to light and we will issue new blog posts as more comes to light.
Until then our thoughts are with the families. Their lives will never be the same, this tragedy is truly the worst possible outcome when a family member or friend boldly steps out into the world for an adventure.
